Michael J. Fischer, Director of Homeland Security and Emergency Management

Michael J. Fischer has also concurrently served as the Acting Director of Security for the Port of Baltimore. Mr. Fischer recently retired from the Maryland State Police, as a Lt. Colonel and Chief of Operations, where he served for 27 ½ years. Mike is a graduate of the Maryland State Police Academy, where he was President of his Class. He is also an honors graduate from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, where again he was Class President. Mr. Fischer graduated from Northwestern University’s School of Police Staff and Command. He holds a BS in Business Operations and a Masters in Business Management from Almeda University. Mike is a member of many professional associations and represents the Department of Transportation on many Federal and State work groups.
